We are a small private community Allotment Association who currently occupy a site of around 18 acres at the rear of Forest Road, Clipstone Village, Nottinghamshire. We have been in existence since 1945.
The Association is managed by a committee who are now elected each year by members attending the AGM which usually takes place around March of each year. We are a Bona Fide Cooperative under the Industrial and Provident Acts and are regulated by the FSA to whom are required to submit audited accounts annually.
The organisation is open to membership to anyone who makes an application and can identify that they actively support the philosophy and values of the association those of horticulture and allotment gardening This is usually achieved by renting and cultivating a garden for a reasonable period of time. We are a semi-charitable organisation but are self financing by collection of rents and more recently water levies.(2006 rates - £11 per annum per allotment plus £3 per tenant water levy) Allotments are rented on an annual basis they can be cultivated by any system providing that they are kept to a reasonable standard. Tenants may also keep chickens or rabitts as part of their hobby (we do not support animal 'farming'.)
